GET STARTED WITH GED

Getting started toward passing the GED test is easy. Just follow these steps:

STEP 1: VISIT THE GED WEBSITE

Visit the GED website. Click the "How it Works" link.

STEP 2: CONTACT A COUNSELOR

Your military-education counselor can answer your questions, help you prepare, and help you register for the test.

STEP 3: CREATE AN ACCOUNT AND START STUDYING

The website has everything you need to get started, begin your personal study plan, order GED study materials from publishers on GED Marketplace, and find in-person GED testing-prep classes near you.

STEP 4: TEST PREPARATION

Preparing for your test is important. Try a free practice test in each of the GED® test subjects. The free practice test is shorter than the length of the actual GED® test and will give you a sense of what to expect on test day. You can also purchase a practice test. The official GED Ready practice test will tell you if you're likely to pass. Take it anywhere, anytime, via your MyGED account.

STEP 5: TAKE THE TEST

Schedule your GED test online. You can take one subject at a time in any order. Watch tutorials on the GED website, so you know what to expect. Get tips on what to do and what to bring.

STEP 6: GET YOUR SCORE REPORT

Check your scores after you take the GED test. Results are posted on MyGED in less than three hours. Once you pass all four test subjects, you'll get your GED transcript and diploma emailed to you (participating states only). Send these directly to schools and employers.

STEP 7: APPLY FOR REIMBURSEMENT

If you are eligible, apply for reimbursement with DANTES. You'll need a government-issued CAC, score report, and a payment receipt to process the request. Other submission requirements may apply. All exam reimbursement requests must be submitted via the Electronic Reimbursement Request.

GET STARTED WITH KUDER JOURNEY

Getting started with Kuder Journey is easy - just follow these steps:

STEP 1: VISIT THE WEBSITE

Visit the Kuder Journey website.

STEP 2: REGISTRATION

Click "New users register here" under the login fields to begin the registration process.

STEP 3: START THE PROCESS

On the next page, the option "A veteran or active member in the military" should already be selected. Click "Continue" to proceed to the registration page.

STEP 4: ENTER THE INVITATION

Enter the requested invitation. (If you live in an area without a ZIP code, please use a 5-digit number that you will remember).

STEP 5: CREATE YOUR ACCOUNT

Create a unique username and password. (Usernames and passwords must be between 5 and 20 characters and contain only letters and numbers).

STEP 6: COMPLETE REGISTRATION

Click "Register" to complete the process.

AFTER REGISTRATION

After you register, you can start your assessments. These results and the Kuder Journey tools will help guide your ongoing education and career planning. The "Contact a Counselor" link makes it easy to share your results with an education counselor and get guidance on your career journey.

Getting started with OASC & CPST is easy - just follow these steps:

GET STARTED WITH ACT - OFF BASE

STEP 1: VISIT THE ACT WEBSITE

Visit the ACT website and select INFORMATION FOR - Students and Parents.

STEP 2: IDENTIFY A TEST DATE

Review "Upcoming Test Dates" and identify the date that meets your application requirement.

STEP 3: FIND A TEST CENTER

Select "Find a Test Center" for a National or Internation Test Center in your area.

STEP 4: REGISTER FOR THE ACT

Select "Register for the ACT" and follow instructions to register online or register by mail if you cannot pay by credit card.

STEP 5: CONTACT

Contact ACT for assistance with the registration process through "Contact" on their website.

GET STARTED WITH SAT - OFF BASE

STEP 1: VISIT THE SAT WEBSITE

Visit the SAT website and create an account.

STEP 2: PROVIDE IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

Provide your full, legal name and other identifying information. Make sure it’s the exact same name and information shown on your photo ID.

STEP 3: ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS

Decide if you want to answer other questions about yourself. This takes time, but it’s worth it if you want colleges and scholarship organizations to find you. Learn why you should opt in to Student Search Service®.

STEP 4: SAT WITH ESSAY

Decide whether to sign up for the SAT with Essay. See which colleges recommend or require it.

STEP 5: UPLOAD A PHOTO

Upload a photo that meets very specific photo requirements.

Getting started with GRE is easy - just follow these steps

STEP 1: VISIT THE GRE WEBSITE

Visit the GRE website.

STEP 2: CREATE AN ACCOUNT

Create an account by selecting "Create or Log In to Your ETS Account Now"

STEP 3: REVIEW RESCHEDULING AND CANCELLATION

Carefully review the rescheduling and cancellation sections in the appropriate Information and Registration Bulletin, as Service Members are responsible for paying all fees charged for these services.

STEP 4: TEST PREPARATION

GET STARTED WITH CLEP

Getting started with CLEP, College Level Examination Program, is easy, just follow these steps:

STEP 1: VISIT THE WEBSITE

Visit the CLEP, College Level Examination Program, College Board website.

STEP 2: CONTACT A COUNSELOR

Contact your military education counselor to ask questions, determine your school policy on credit-by-exam acceptance, and get additional help with finding a testing location and registering to take an exam.

STEP 3: CREATE AN ACCOUNT

If you don’t already have one, create a new account.

STEP 4: DANTES FUNDING ELIGIBILITY

When registering, you will be asked if you are eligible for DANTES funding in the "Edit Personal Details" section of the process. Military test takers MUST correctly designate themselves as DANTES-funded and answer questions about their military Service and status in order to receive DANTES funding. Remember, re-testing is NOT funded.

STEP 5: REGISTRATION

During the registration process, indicate DANTES-funding eligible if applicable. Contact the College Board for assistance with the registration process through "Contact Us" on their website. Questions about "My Account" should be directed to CLEP Services.

STEP 6: TEST PREPARATION

Preparing for your test is important. View sample questions and get study materials from the CollegeBoard website. DANTES-funded candidates who register for a CLEP exam will receive the CLEP examination guide at no cost. DANTES-funded candidates can also order FREE examination guides separately, even if they have not yet registered for an exam.

STEP 7: TAKE THE TEST

When you are ready to take your test, present the printed "ticket", your authorized military I.D. (e.g. CAC) and a second form of I.D. to the Test Administrator at your selected CLEP Test Center.

STEP 8: SCORE REPORT

All CLEP exam registrations come with a free score report sent to your college of choice, which must be input when you register. If you don’t select a score recipient institution during registration or you wish to send your scores to additional institutions, you can request official CLEP transcripts for exams via “My Account” through a secure online checkout process. These additional score reports can be ordered for a fee of $20 each.

GET STARTED WITH DSST

Getting started with the DSST Credit By Exam Program is easy, just follow these steps:

STEP 1: VISIT THE WEBSITE

Visit the DSST: GetCollegeCredit.com website.

STEP 2: CONTACT A COUNSELOR

Contact your military education counselor to ask questions, determine your school policy on credit-by-exam acceptance, get additional help with finding a testing location, and registering to take an exam.

STEP 3: CREATE AN ACCOUNT

If you don’t already have an account, register for the DSST Credit By Exam Program.

STEP 4: DANTES FUNDING ELIGIBILITY

When creating an account, you will be asked if you are eligible for DANTES funding in the "Demographics" section. Military test takers MUST correctly designate themselves as DANTES-funded and answer questions about their military Service and status in order to receive DANTES funding. Remember, re-testing is NOT funded. Be sure to select your Branch of Service, as this determines which Service will receive your testing data.

STEP 5: TEST PREPARATION

Preparing for your test is important. DSST practice exams provide test candidates with the chance to take a test drive of exam questions on the internet platform on which the actual exam is administered. There is a free practice test for each exam offered. Other test prep material is available as well.

STEP 6: TAKE THE TEST

When you are ready to take your test, be sure to contact your desired test center to ensure a seat is available. Find a Test Center at https://getcollegecredit.com/institutions/search. Present your authorized military I.D. (e.g. CAC) and a second form of I.D. to the Test Administrator at your selected DSST Test Center.

STEP 7: SCORE REPORT

All DSST exam registrations come with a free score report sent to your college of choice, which must be input when you register. If you don’t select a score recipient institution during registration or you wish to send your scores to additional institutions, you can request official DSST transcripts for exams via "My Account" through a secure online checkout process. These additional score reports can be ordered for a fee of $20 per score recipient.

GET STARTED WITH PRAXIS®

Getting started with Praxis® Series is easy - just follow these steps:

STEP 1: VISIT THE WEBSITE

Visit the Praxis® website. Review the Quick Links and check your state for state testing requirements.

STEP 2: CREATE AN ACCOUNT

Creating an account allows you to register online for PRAXIS tests, cancel or change a test registration, view current test scores, and order score reports. You also want to become familiar with policies and state requirements before you register.

STEP 3: TEST PREPARATION

Preparing for your test is important. Review study materials on the PRAXIS website and know what to expect when taking your test.

STEP 4: REGISTER FOR THE TEST

When you are ready, register for your test(s) online, by mail, or by phone.

STEP 5: TAKE THE TEST
