MERIT PROMOTION JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

All employees need to be aware of several significant problems/changes to the Merit Promotion application process. Job postings (paper copies) may not be distributed or posted in a timely fashion, so don't depend solely on a paper copy. There are three web sites to check for announcements:

HRO Service Center, Pensacola Homepage
Office of Personnel Management

Please check each site, as some announcements may not be posted on all three. Code N83 is posting only NETPDTC jobs to the CREST web site on a daily basis in an effort to facilitate the recruitment transition from HRO Pensacola to the HRO Regional Service Center. However, you should not restrict your job search to the CREST site, there are other jobs on the other web pages listed above (you can use the links from CREST).

Also the Regional Service Center has imposed some new requirements and may require you to submit additional documentation when filing applications. Some of these documents are your most recent SF-50, a copy of your last performance appraisal, and copies of any awards. Additionally, the Regional Service Center recommends using an OF 612, Optional Application for Federal Employment. All applications must be received at the Regional Service Center by the close of business on the closing date of the announcement. This does not mean postmarked on the last day. All requirements of the announcement must be complied with or you may be rated ineligible, even if you are otherwise highly qualified. If you become aware of an announcement and you don't think you have time to meet this requirement, please contact Angie Lewis @ 2-1345 or take your application to the HRO information desk at Building 1, NASP. Mr. Lloyd Simoneaux, President of AFGE Local 1960, is aware of the problems being encountered in this process and he has joined with us in seeking solutions to the many problems arising from the transition of HRO services.

The purpose of this notice is to raise your awareness to changes in the Merit Promotion process. We are bringing contentious issues such as this to the attention of HRO/HRSC on a daily basis trying to minimize adverse impact to employees, but ultimately the responsibility to comply with the new provisions of the application process rests with you, the applicant. Failure to furnish complete information or meet other provisions of the announcement "will not be a basis for grievance and/or appeal". We will continue to keep you informed of any additional changes to the Merit Promotion process and other noteworthy issues as they occur.
